Karibuni! Means: Welcome!

pastor and wifeIt gives me great joy to welcome and introduce you to our Church.  We are indeed overwhelmed by God's Blessings and His constant love. To Him alone we give honor and glory.  If there is one thing I have really come to appreciate at ICOC, it is the warm Christian love that is present here. I have often been amazed at how quickly members respond to those who come to visit, and how each member displays their love of welcome. This has made my time at ICOC a great joy as I see Jesus being lived in. ICOC draws its membership from diverse faith backgrounds. For the last 5 years the church has registered growth dynamics in many fields of ministry. ICOC has endeavored to offer a hospitable and spiritual environment through which many Kenyan immigrants in NE Atlanta have thrived. Our unique Kenyan African cultural and religious heritage is exemplified in our worship and fellowship. We share and celebrate this heritage among ourselves and the larger American community as a gift from God.

After the death of Pastor Isaac Gitundu on May, 2011 Pastor John Macere was invited to fill the pulpit and he accepted the call.   Pastor John Macere was born and raised in the central part of Kenya where he attended both elementary and high school. Pastor Macere’s call to serve the Lord began at an early age. While still in elementary school he served the church as an acolyte/alter boy. He gave his life to Christ in his early teenage years. While in high school he was elected as a Christian Union chairman due to his commitment in the things of God. In his late teens before completing high school, he received a call to preach and teach the word of God in one of the nearby churches that had a capacity of 300 members, a duty that he used to do voluntarily every weekend. Upon completing his high school, he joined African Theological Seminary ATS formerly ICM in Western part of Kenya, where he received a Bachelors of Theology and Bible Studies. While he was pursuing his theological training, he used to minister in different churches which were within his jurisdiction causing tremendous growth.  He also served in different part of Kenya up to the year 2009. In September 2009, he moved to USA where he enrolled at Erskine College Seminary for a graduate program. He graduated with a Masters of Divinity after three years. As a young energetic minister, Pastor Macere has of over ten years in the ministry. He is well equipped with what it takes to take to move the shurch to the higher level that God needs.
